I installed this on a wall. This lift system is very sturdy and allows you to adjust the backboard height to any setting between 7 and 10 feet. Most of the other adjustable systems I looked at only give you six adjustment options. Adjusting gradually works nicely for younger players. Having to use the included crank handle to lift and lower the system is nice too. The crank unhooks and can be stored out of reach of the kids. This may seem kind of trivial, but it prevents my older daughter from cranking the rim up higher than what my younger daughter can shoot. It also prevents older kids from lowering the rim to have unsupervised slam dunk contests. I mounted a 48inch Spalding backboard on this and the whole setup is rock solid. Assembly is pretty straight forward. My only complaint is that I wasn't able to locate within the instructions the exact height the unit should be off the ground. The instructions list a "minimum" height to one of the bolt holes. It would have been nice to have some sort of guidance on exactly what height was needed to hit 10 feet exactly. I ended up at 3 inches over with the unit cranked completely to the top. That was with using the minimum height measurement.
